A Wonderful Day in September
Held on the first Saturday of every September the Exeter Green Fair is one of the regions oldest environmental events and has now been running for over 25 years.
It is an opportunity for all types of local groups who are concerned with ideas for solutions to todays social and evironmental problems. It has everything from food growers, distributors and retailers, local clothes swaps and book and other recycling schemes, gardening advice and services, social campaign groups and charities to spiritual and religious groups and organisations.
Thanks to Exeter Cathederal and Bishop it has traditionally been held in the Bishops Palace Gardens but last year we had the opportunity to expand the event out into the main Cathedral Green with much success. The event comprised over 60 stalls, filling nearly two thirds of the green. Next year we aim to have over 80 stalls so note the first saturday in September in your diaries.
Administration
The Green Fair is mainly organised by a committee of Green Party members and while stall prices are kept very low for such an event a small sum of money is raised to pay for the work of the organisers who then donate these funds to the Green Party and other green groups (usually split about 80% 20% as that is the balance of the committee).
For the next couple of months this is where Green Fair information will be publicised on the web but then the Green Fair aims to launch its own website to help with enquiries and bookings. Please watch this space.
